About Us

Serving the Hmong Community Since 1985

Our Story

Four Decades of Strength, Unity, and Service

Xiong United of MN — formally incorporated as Xiong United of Minnesota, Inc. — has its roots in the Hmong community dating back to 1985. What began as a grassroots effort by Xiong community members to support one another grew into a formally organized nonprofit, incorporated with the State of Minnesota on December 28, 1999 under Chapter 317A.

From our earliest days, our founders recognized that the Xiong and broader Hmong community needed an organized voice — one that could champion education, preserve cultural identity, support economic development, and help families navigate life in America without losing the traditions that make us who we are.

Today, Xiong United of MN continues that legacy, serving families across Minnesota with programs, resources, and a deep commitment to community well-being.

Our Mission

Bridging Culture and Opportunity

Xiong United of MN is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. We exist to support and promote Xiong education and economic advancement, preserve Hmong culture, and build a lasting bridge between the Hmong community and broader American society — so that every generation can thrive with both roots and wings.

What We Do

Our Areas of Service

Education & Youth

We believe education is the foundation of a thriving community. We champion learning for all ages, provide academic support and mentorship for students, offer scholarships to help Hmong youth pursue higher education, and create pathways that connect our community with the opportunities they need to succeed.

Culture & Heritage

We work to enrich and preserve Hmong cultural traditions, literature, language, and history — ensuring future generations remain connected to their roots.

Economic Empowerment

We support existing small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in the Xiong community, and partner with universities and technical schools to create pathways to professional success.

Community Integration

We provide workshops, conferences, training, and networking opportunities to help Hmong families integrate into American society while celebrating their unique identity.
